Foreign particulate matter in drug products is a common issue in the pharmaceutical industry that has major impacts on pharmaceutical companies, from both financial and safety aspects. The purpose of this study is to discuss the application of a freeze/ thaw method using a low concentration of sodium hydroxide to dissolve the MCC in nasal spray suspensions, leaving the foreign particulate intact for further studies and identification.
