We are now one (1) of only two (2) private labs in the country that is accredited to this standard for trace evidence, and we are the only private lab in the country to be accredited for gunshot residue analysis.
Our scope of accreditation includes trace evidence testing in the following categories of testing:
- Paint
- Fiber and Textiles
- Gunshot Residue
- Hair
- General Physical and Chemical Analysis
ASCLD/LAB-International accreditation is based on the requirements of ISO 17025:2005 standard for laboratory competence and ASCLD/LAB forensic-specific requirements. Over 500 requirements in all!
The assessment was very thorough and focused on every aspect of Gateway’s operation and personnel. Case records were examined, personnel were interviewed, training and proficiency records were reviewed, equipment procedures and calibrations were checked, evidence handling procedures assessed, etc. In essence, no stone was left unturned as the entire Gateway quality management system was comprehensively challenged during the assessment. In the end, Gateway met the challenge to become one of the first private labs accredited to the international program.
This accreditation could not have happened without the sincere commitment and vision of management and the tireless effort and dedication of the entire staff at Gateway.
